Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada, and is now American. She has released over 20 albums of studio work. DiFranco's songs are classified as folk and alternative rock. However, they also have influences from hip hop, jazz and punk. Ani Difranco has been deemed to be a feminist hero as well as a Grammy award winner. Being one of the first female artists in the 90s, she founded her own label. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd, 1970. She was she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco, who had been in contact while at in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
